Cranberry Township to seek feedback in anticipation of future growth
As Cranberry Township wraps up a slate of upgrades and new amenities, officials are already setting their sights on the next wave of investments.
A step toward those new endeavors began during a meeting Thursday night, Feb. 26, when supervisors green lit a $105,550 contract with Maine-based czb LLC to conduct a visioning and community outreach process that will determine what residents desire to see in coming years.
“It’s going to be an open set of workshops and planning,” township manager Dan Santoro said. “We’re going to invite the public in to tell us what their concerns are, how they see the future of the community and what they’d like to see from the board of supervisors long-term.”
Santoro said the planning efforts will not be tied to anything specific, but instead allow suggestions to be more open-ended.
“We can be talking about any number of topics from land use to transportation to recreation — all of those things that affect the long-term planning of the township,” he added.
The planning firm works in communities across the country specializing in “helping communities clarify what’s at stake, get the information they need to make good decisions, and help them grow their capacity to manage and implement change,” according to its website.
Their employees will be in charge of engaging members of the community in a variety of ways, Santoro said.
“There will be a series of different feedback channels,” he said. “They’ll be actual public meetings and forums, but there will also be other outreach and other ways to connect to township leaders. There will be different surveys and such through electronic means.”
All of those efforts will be announced well in advance to ensure residents have every opportunity to make their voices heard.
“There will be lots of public notice because we’re going to try and get as many community members out as possible to come and provide that feedback,” Santoro said.
