Zelienople’s Main Street project continues momentum
ZELIENOPLE — Borough council voted unanimously to issue payments toward construction work for part of the improvement project on Main Street at its meeting Monday, June 29.
The estimates approved include $143,630.96 to Skiles Excavating and $53,090.12 to Slater Electric.
This piece of the project aims to refurbish the Veteran’s Memorial at Four Corners Park. The work is also receiving support from the American Legion, Explore Zelie and some private donors.
The payments also mark a continuation in momentum for the council’s renovation work on Main Street, said borough manager Andrew Spencer. The borough first started a streetscape revitalization project on Main Street around 2015.
The updates aim make Main Street look more attractive. Spencer said the hope is the improvements will stimulate the local economy, supporting the businesses on the street.
