Cranberry approves nearly $4M in partial payments for projects

CRANBERRY TWP — At Thursday’s meeting, the board of supervisors approved several ordinance amendments and partial work payments.

A partial payment of $701,025.42 to Youngblood Paving was unanimously approved for work on this year’s street resurfacing program.

The project entails street paving efforts at Chadborne Court, Kimberwicke Drive, the Cranberry portion of Thorn Hill Road, the municipal building’s rear parking lot, the public works’ fuel island, the fire department’s park station rear lot and various other areas.

A $2.63 million partial payment to Kukurin Contracting was also unanimously approved for contracting work on the solids handling project at the Brush Creek Water Pollution Control Facility.

Additionally, nearly $560,000 of partial payments was approved for the ongoing improvements to Community Park and North Boundary Park.

Ordinance changes include updating the law to make newly added stop signs legally enforceable and adopting an revised property maintenance code to stay consistent with the updated international code.

Potentially adding zoning and general purpose requirements for what qualifies as an animal sanctuary will be considered at a board meeting next month. The changes were approved for advertisement Thursday night. Dan Santoro, township manager, said there will be more information about the amendments at that meeting.

The board also voted to advertise for bids for the Joan Street storm sewer rehabilitation project, which aims to refurbish the stormwater infrastructure in the surrounding neighborhood.
