Volant man killed Jackson Township crash

A 28-year-old Volant man died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash shortly after midnight on Friday, June 12, near an Interstate 79 off-ramp in Jackson Township.

A passenger vehicle driven by the Volant man struck a triaxle truck in the crash, which was first reported at 12:41 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Lindsay Road and the northbound I-79 off-ramp, according to Jackson Township police.

The passenger vehicle appeared to have been traveling northbound and exiting the interstate at the time of the impact, while the triaxle appeared to be traveling westbound on Lindsay Road, police said.

The Volant man was found to be deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the triaxle — a 47-year-old male from Bruin — was uninjured in the crash, police said.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.

According to Butler County Coroner Korynne Young, the victim’s next-of-kin are in the process of being notified.

In addition to Jackson Township Police, the Cranberry Township Police Department, Cranberry Volunteer Fire Company, Harmony Fire District, Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department, and Harmony EMS assisted in the response.
