PIAA lacrosse playoffs 2026: Breaking down Mars boys and girls’ Round 1 matchups

A potent offense and stingy defense once again has Mars’ boys and girls lacrosse teams entering the state playoffs as district champions. The Planets boys recently won their 10th straight WPIAL title, while the girls claimed their fourth consecutive crown.

The PIAA tournaments start this week. Here are some things to keep an eye on in the first round.

PIAA lacrosse playoffs tickets, livestream

Livestream: Some games will be livestreamed on the NFHS Network ($13.99 for a monthly subscription) or broadcast by local or regional media outlets. The state championship will be broadcast and livestreamed on PCN. A digital subscription to PCN costs $14.99 for one month.

Tickets: According to the PIAA, tickets can be purchased for $9 in advance on hometownticketing.com and for $10 at the door

Boys Class 2A: 7-1 Mars vs. 3-4 Cocalico

Site/time: Mars Athletic Complex, 5 p.m. Tuesday

Up next: Winner of 11-1 Moravian Academy vs. 1-2 Upper Dublin

Planets’ key player: Senior midfielder Grant Weaver has 62 goals and 48 assists for 110 points this season. All three stats lead the team.

Eagles’ key player: Senior attack Brady Gallagher holds school records in career goals (more than 170) and career points (more than 315).

Mars wins if ... senior faceoff ace Josh Wilburn can keep possession with the Planets. He's won 83% of faceoffs this season.

Girls Class 2A: 7-1 Mars vs. 3-3 Susquehannock

Site/time: Mars Athletic Complex, 3 p.m. Tuesday

Up next: Winner of 1-2 Bayard Rustin at 11-1 Southern Lehigh

Planets’ key player: Senior midfielder Anna McGrath has 55 goals, 35 assists and 31 caused turnovers in 2026.

Warriors’ key player: Senior attack Brooke Schabdach is a Messiah University commit. Susquehannock is making its first appearance in the state playoffs in four years.

Mars wins if ... the Planets can continue to attack with a balanced offense (293 combined goals from five players).
