PennDOT, police highlight work zone safety

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s statewide work zone safety campaign continued through Sunday, April 28, in partnership with multiple police departments, including the Pennsylvania State Police.

The goal of the Aggressive Driving Enforcement Wave is to reduce the number of crashes related to aggressive driving that lead to injuries and fatalities on roads throughout the state by addressing distracted driving, speeding and work zone awareness.

PennDOT preliminary data shows 6,610 crashes occurred last year in Pennsylvania due to aggressive driving, 121 of which were fatal.

PennDOT reminds motorists that speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading factors in crashes in work zones in Pennsylvania.
