FORWARD TWP — A homeowner’s greenhouse was destroyed by fire Monday, April 20.

Six emergency services stations responded to the 11:58 a.m. call about a fire at 283 Spithaler School Road, according to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch.

Although the caller reported the fire was endangering sheds around it, no other structures were damaged.

Homeowner Tom Smith said he suspects a wood burner in the greenhouse started the fire. The wood burner had not been used since last year.

Evans City Area and Penn Township volunteer fire departments, Callery and Connoquenessing volunteer fire companies, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Butler Ambulance Service initially responded.
