Cranberry Township woman accused of breaking into apartment, climbing in bed with owner

A Cranberry Township woman is accused of breaking into a man’s apartment in Adams Township and climbing into bed with him.

Stacey Marie Dougherty, 42, was charged Thursday, April 16, by Adams Township police with felony burglary and one misdemeanor count each of stalking, DUI and disorderly conduct following an April 16 incident.

Police said they were dispatched to Adams Pointe Boulevard for a report of a woman attempting a break-in. Police were informed before they arrived the woman had fled the scene and may have gotten her vehicle stuck on a curb.

One officer stopped at the apartment she fled to interview the owner.

Police said the apartment owner said Dougherty had entered the locked door of his apartment, went to his bedroom and got in bed with him. He told police Dougherty previously told him she used to break into places using a credit card.

The other officer continued along Route 228 until they found Dougherty’s vehicle. Police said they conducted a traffic stop on Dougherty after spotting her traveling in the wrong lane.

Dougherty was arrested after showing signs of impairment, police said.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. April 29 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz. She’s being held in Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail.
