Moniteau baseball rebounds with big win over Brookville, Karns City softball shuts out Redbank Valley: Roundup

Ian Ross, Carson Minnear, Dawson Cook, James Gillen and Beau Stewart all had two-hit efforts as Moniteau baseball downed Brookville 8-0 Tuesday.

The Warriors banged out 13 hits in total, and Cook had three RBIs. He also went seven innings on the mound, allowing three hits, striking out 11 and walking two.

Redbank Valley 5, Karns City 4 — Tyson Frazer had two hits — including a home run — and two RBIs, and Cole Johnston added another blast, but the Gremlins allowed two runs in the bottom of the seventh in this loss.

Seneca Valley 11, North Hills 1 — Parker Mell struck out five in six innings of work, and Brandon Godleski went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, RBI and stolen base to lead the Raiders in a comfortable win.

Mason Fisher and Kayden Cahall each scored three runs. Micah Olayer recorded a rare feat of walking four times in a game.

Tuesday’s storms forced the following games to be suspended and will likely be continued at later dates: Knoch at Valley, Fox Chapel at Mars, Union/A-C Valley at Keystone, North Catholic at Hampton and Deer Lakes at Freeport.

Softball

Abigail Dunlap’s two-hit showing helped lead Karns City’s offense in a 7-0 win over Redbank Valley. Dunlap also starred in the circle, going all six innings and allowing just two knocks and striking out six.

Brookville 12, Moniteau 3 — Alyssa Thompson and Lily Staab both had two hits in the Warriors’ loss.

Tuesday’s storms forced the following games to be suspended and will likely be continued at later dates: Hampton at North Catholic and Sharon at Slippery Rock.

Girls lacrosse

Mars downed Ambridge 20-0 Tuesday. No further details were provided.

Boys lacrosse

Shaler beat Freeport 11-10 in overtime. Gabe Lichtenfels scored five goals for the Yellowjackets, while Dylan Taborkey stopped 13 shots in net. Drew Ross had four assists and a goal.
