Evans City government, police renew lease with library
EVANS CITY — The center of civic activity in the borough will remain at the Evans City Public Library on South Jackson Street.
Evans City Borough Council voted during its monthly meeting on Monday night, Aug. 3, to renew its lease agreement with the public library for five more years, extending the agreement into the 2030s. This means council will continue to conduct official business from the library’s community room.
The lease also covers Evans City’s public safety department, which occupies part of the building.
As part of the agreement, the borough will pay $1,150 per month for the remainder of 2026, then the price will increase to $1,250 starting in January 2027 through the remainder of the deal.
In addition to the community room and public safety department, the library also houses the Evans City Historical Society.
In other business during Monday night’s meeting, council voted to formalize 3 to 5 p.m. as the official Halloween trick or treat time on Saturday, Oct. 31, for 2026 in Evans City.
