The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh declared a flash flood warning is in effect for southern Butler County and northeastern Allegheny County until 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2.

According to the service, between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen and additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the area. Flash flooding was considered ongoing or expected to begin shortly after the 2:48 p.m. declaration.

The service is also reminding residents to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads.

The county also remains under a flood watch until midnight Monday.
