Maggie Schott was named 2025 Volunteer of the Year by Zelienople Borough, the municipality announced in a news release Wednesday, July 15.

Schott, who is the board president of Zelienople Preschool at Calvin Church, was nominated by her fellow board members and staff for her commitment to managing the preschool’s social media and extracurricular activities.

Schott was also a driving force behind last year’s Miracle on Main Street and this year’s Fourth of July celebration, according to the release.

“Maggie doesn’t just live in Zelienople, she invests in it,” director of the preschool Samantha Schettler said. “She cares deeply about the town where she is raising her children and is genuinely committed to its continued success and to creating meaningful, joyful experiences for everyone who calls it home.”

The borough started the volunteer of the year award program in 2014 to honor individuals who have dedicated their time, talents and energy to serving and improving the community and making life easier for the citizens of the borough and its surrounding communities.

Schott will be formally honored with the award at a July 27 Zelienople Borough Council meeting.
