Railroad crossing in Zelienople will be closed starting July 9 for replacement work

PennDOT announced in a June 29 news release that Route 288, New Castle Road, in Zelienople, will be closed from 7 a.m. July 9 to 6:30 p.m. July 13, at the railroad crossing located between Market Street and Halstead Boulevard.

The closure is for crossing replacement work for the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad.

Travelers on the west side of the crossing are recommended to take a detour by taking Route 588, turning left onto Hartzel School Road, left onto Route 68 and left onto Route 19.

Travelers on the east side of the crossing are recommended to take a detour by taking a series of right turns: onto Route 19, onto Route 68, onto Hartzell School Road, onto Route 588 and then onto Route 288.
