Community hosts sale to spruce up neighborhood for holiday

LANCASTER TWP — The Scenic Ridge senior living community held a flag-raising ceremony to kick off their America250 celebrations on Sunday, June 14 — Flag Day.

To mark this unique moment in history, the 80-home senior community will become a little more red-white-and-blue over the next month thanks to the landscaping committee, which hosted a sale of miniature American flags.

“Our landscaping committee raises some money to put some extra plants around,” said Linda Kilian. “They had a flag sale, and they sold 650 flags.”

The actual number of miniature flags scattered around the community is closer to 700, according to Kilian, as some residents already had flags on their premises before the sale.

The red-white-and-blue decorations will remain up until July 15, including for the holiday July 4.
