Experience Butler County moving to Butler City
Tourism is on the move.
Experience Butler County, the county’s tourism promotion agency, plans to move its administrative offices from its Zelienople location to one in downtown Butler.
Formally know as the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau, Experience Butler County will establish its new home in the historic T.W. Phillips Building at 205 N. Main St.
According to a Tuesday, May 19, news release from Experience Butler County, the relocation is a result of its current strategic planning, which focuses on establishing a central presence within the county seat to better serve its partners.
In addition to expanded administrative space, the new location will feature a dedicated visitor center.
County Commissioner Leslie Osche said in her role as commissioner, she is supportive of the move and excited to have them in the county seat to support residents from a more central location.
“It’s an incredible boost for the county seat. That whole area is becoming a focal point of growth in the city,” she said.
As a member of the Butler Rotary Club PM, she added she is thrilled that someone will be occupying the historic building.
“It’s such a beautiful space and it makes me so happy to know it won’t just sit there empty,” she said.
Butler Mayor Bob Dandoy also said he is “super excited” about the prospect of having Experience Butler County closer. For the city, he said he thinks having it in the T.W. Phillips Building will bolster that area of the city.
“That will really energize that corner. We put on so many events in the parking lot right next to it, so it’ll be great to work with them on things like that,” he said.
He said he thinks a more centralized location will benefit the entire county in terms of tourism.
“There’s so much going on all over the county, so a central location will really help connect with all those different corners,” he said.
He commended the staff at Experience Butler County for always being professional and polite to work with, something he hopes he will get to do more of after the move.
Details regarding a ribbon-cutting and public open house will be shared later this year and the agency will remain fully operational during the transition.
