MARS — Borough council gave an update about new welcome signs coming to the borough at its agenda meeting on Monday.

Secretary Christine Clutter said the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School, whose students designed and built the signs, told her everything was progressing as planned and the signs would be ready in time for Mars BrewFest on June 6.

Three signs will be placed around the borough. One will be placed along Route 228 near CVS Pharmacy, one will be alongside Mars-Valencia Road near Stick City Brewing company and one more will be placed alongside Mars-Evans City Road near Finn Chiropractic. The signs will replace the current welcome sign near Stick City Brewery, which has seen wear over time.

In other business, council also accepted a $44,370 bid by W M Aiken and Son to work on the Crow Avenue water line project and paid bills totaling $40,410.73.
