Kevin Trost resigns as Seneca Valley boys basketball coach after 8 seasons
Kevin Trost’s eighth season as head coach of Seneca Valley boys varsity basketball will be his last.
He resigned from the position April 27.
A Seneca Valley athletic department post on the social media platform X from May 1 stated: “The Seneca Valley School District is seeking candidates for the position of head varsity boys basketball coach. Review of applications will commence May 18.”
Trost was 76-104 while leading the Raiders (2018-26), who made the WPIAL Class 6A playoffs five times in his eight years. His best campaign was this past season, when the team finished 14-12 overall, including a district quarterfinal playoff win over Hempfield and a trip to the state playoffs for just the fourth time in the 62-year history of the school.
Trost was hired Aug. 13, 2018 after coaching stints at Carlynton and Bishop Canevin. He joins Butler’s Matt Clement, who announced his resignation last month, as Butler County high school basketball coaches who will not be back with their respective teams next season.
