Lawsuit filed against Armstrong County facility where nurse accused of homicide worked

A ninth wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in connection to Heather Pressdee, the former nurse accused of intentionally administering fatal overdoses of insulin to patients.

The target of this lawsuit is the Armstrong Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Kittanning, Armstrong County, where Pressdee worked in late 2022. The suit, first reported by the Tribune-Review, was filed by Hal K. Waldman and Associates on behalf of the family of Louise Skinner.

Skinner died in December 2022 at the age of 90, allegedly at the hand of Pressdee.

The suit contends Armstrong Rehabilitation chose to hire Pressdee even though she had already been forced to leave nine other nursing homes due to her alleged abusive behavior. The lawsuit against Armstrong Rehabilitation contains nine counts, including negligence and vicarious liability.

Pressdee, who is currently being held at Butler County Prison, is connected to at least 17 deaths between 2020 and 2023, which took place while she was working at several nursing homes in Western Pennsylvania.

Out of the eight other wrongful death lawsuits connected to Pressdee, four have been filed against the Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and four have been filed against Guardian Healthcare, which operates the Belair Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County.
