Interstate 79 northbound is closed between two Butler County exits following a tractor trailer rollover Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 15.

According to a news release from PennDOT, I-79 north is closed between exit 78 — which connects to Route 228 — and exit 83 — which connects to Route 528.

PennDOT advised motorists to use caution in the area and take alternate routes. The road is expected to remain closed until the scene is cleared.

Butler County Emergency Services dispatch recordings requested Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company and EMS, as well as Harmony Fire District to the 82-mile-marker of I-79 around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The tractor trailer is reportedly a flatbed hauling drywall, according to the dispatch recording.
