A well-known casual dining chain is bringing its burgers and shakes to Cranberry Township.

Shake Shack is planning to open its fifth Pittsburgh-area restaurant in the Streets of Cranberry, managing partner Herky Pollock announced Monday in a social media post.

“We’re very excited to have this kind of iconic restaurant come into the Streets of Cranberry,” Pollock said. “The response has been overwhelming thus far.”

The burger restaurant’s first venture into Butler County is slated to open in late spring or early summer of 2026 and will take up half of what formerly was a Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar.

Pollock and his commercial real estate firm, Legacy Realty Partners, confirmed they are in the process of finding a second tenant for the space.

“We have several really good candidates for the second half,” he said. “That’s the last space we have in the shopping center, so we’re being very particular as to who we put in there.”

Cranberry officials said Shake Shack has been among the most requested additions by local residents.

“We are excited to see a new tenant going in there,” said Ron Henshaw, Cranberry’s director of planning and development services. “So far, we’ve received really good feedback, and people are happy to be getting them as a business in the Streets of Cranberry.”

Thus far, the only plans Shake Shack has submitted to the township is for a building permit that would allow it to divide the space in half, Henshaw said.

Two Shake Shack restaurants that are open in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, one in North Fayette and another in the Strip District Terminal.

The New York-based chain, which has become famous for its burgers, shakes, hot dogs, chicken and crinkle-cut fries, will open other locations in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood and in the Ross Park Mall in the coming months.
