Cranberry Township man sentenced in child endangerment case
A Cranberry Township man was sentenced to probation and house arrest for having inappropriate contact with a girl over five years, beginning when she was 3 years old.
Joshua D. Ice, 50, was sentenced Wednesday, July 9, in Common Pleas Court to serve 60 months of probation including four months on house arrest and pay a $300 fine after pleading guilty to a felony count of endangering the welfare of children, one of several charges filed by township police in September 2022.
In their victim impact statements, the girl and her mother talked about the effects the years of improper contact have had on the girl, who is now 11 years old.
The girl’s mother said her daughter missed out on the innocence of childhood due to the trauma and the shame she felt. She said the girl is anxious and distances herself from others.
She said her daughter was brave to speak up about the incidents when she was 8 years old.
She said doesn’t want revenge for her daughter, but she wants her to live in peace and safety.
The girl, who cried while reading her statement, said she felt afraid and violated for years, but couldn’t tell anybody about what was happening.
“People defended him instead of me. He wanted me to suffer. He needs to be held accountable,” the girl said.
Ice said he pleaded guilty to avoid having the girl appear for a trial and thanked his family for its support.
