Guy Dennis

Dennis

Guy Hewitt Dennis, of Cranberry Township, died at the age of 76, in his home on Friday, May 23, 2025, a little more than eight weeks after receiving a diagnosis of esophageal cancer.

Best known for his sense of humor, he was a loving and intelligent man, who would go out of his way to help those he cared about. He relished opportunities to work with his hands and solve problems. He could repair almost anything, but he especially enjoyed applying his gifts to woodworking — restoring antique furniture and creating reproductions.

Born in Havre de Grace, Md., in 1948, he later moved to Bel Air, Md., where he graduated from Bel Air High School in 1966. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Bucknell University and pursued a Master of Science degree in mining engineering at Virginia Tech.

He lived in nine states, residing the longest in Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Maryland. He worked as a petroleum engineer for Amoco Corp. in Lafayette and New Orleans, La., and later as a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in New Orleans.

He achieved the rank of captain in the U.S. Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division and served as an officer in the Army National Guard. He flew Huey and Black Hawk helicopters.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kay Dick Dennis; daughters, Kathryn Elizabeth Dennis (Genora Dancel) and Christine Lynne Dennis-Liston (Trent Liston); grandchildren, Carter, Taylor and Faith Liston; and siblings, James Dennis, Robert Dennis and Lynn Lilley.

DENNIS — A memorial service for Guy Hewitt Dennis, who died Friday, May 23, 2025, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Bel Air, Md.
