A Jackson Township bakery will close its doors at the end of the month.

After 14 years of whipping up award-winning sweet treats and designing made-to-order wedding cakes, Tin Man Sweets Bake Shoppe will cease operations June 28.

Owners Maria and Justin Wroblewski announced the closure in a Facebook post on Sunday evening, June 1.

“Over the years we met a lot of great, kind people,” the post read. “Unfortunately due to prolonged health issues, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations effective June 28. This has not been an easy decision.”

The establishment quickly became a popular stop for local residents after opening in 2012. It earned multiple accolades over the years, including a 2015 Cranberry Eagle Community Choice Award for its cookies.

“I am so very sorry to hear this,” one comment on the Facebook post read. “You are my absolute favorite bakery. My best wishes to you all. You will be missed.”

“Sorry to hear that!,” another comment read. “Your baked goods are amazing. Prayers for healing and hoping you can reopen in the future!”

According to the shop’s website, the Wroblewskis opened in Evans City in 2012, then moved on in 2017 to share a space with the former Spring Street Cafe in Zelienople. The couple eventually set up shop at the Jackson Township location in May 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the opening.

The social media post went on to say that the bakery will be open on Fridays and Saturdays in June and encouraged patrons to “stop in, buy your goodies and say goodbye.”
