Seven Fields’ third Oktoberfest brings together community to enjoy local beer, late September weather
SEVEN FIELDS — It’s not every day that people get to kick back and drink a few beers at the Seven Fields Town Park, but this weekend brought back Oktoberfest celebrations to the park.
Residents and visitors trickled into the park on early Friday evening for the opening day of the festivities. A part of the park was restricted at times to guests old enough to drink. That section featured live music and booths with drinks from Smiling Moose, Penn Brewery, Holzinger’s Imbiss, Dented Keg and Conny Creek Brewing.
The event has no shortage of activities for kids of all ages, too. Carnival rides, food and games for kids were available on-site. Tom Smith, borough manager, said the event is set up intentionally to be family-friendly.
Dylan Fouts and Kayla Fouts, residents of the borough for six years, said that the couple always try to attend borough events, but it was their first time stopping by for Oktoberfest in particular.
“The big thing was just getting outside and enjoying the weather,” said Kayla Fouts.
Also a first-timer was Beverly Bongiorno with Dented Keg, an Adams Township-based brewpub that has served brews at other borough events.
Bongiorno’s booth was serving some of the brewpub’s staple drinks. Bongiorno, a Seven Fields resident, said it's nice to come across community members she knows and sharing the company’s beverages with them.
“People are always nice,” said Bongiorno. “I just enjoy seeing everybody.”
Borough council took efforts to bring Oktoberfest to the borough in 2024 after being approached by C&L Shows with the idea, said Tom Smith, borough manager. C&L Shows is the carnival company that has organized other borough events, like Community Days.
Since the carnival was well received by the community, Smith said Oktoberfest was also an opportunity to extend the carnival’s run to the fall season while the weather is still pleasant.
“Council members felt that it was another opportunity for the residents to enjoy another community event along with showcasing Seven Fields to nonresidents,” said Smith. “It has been a tremendous success so far, and we hope to keep building on it.”
Oktoberfest celebrations at the park will continue on Saturday evening and finish Sunday afternoon.
