Meijer is one step closer to bringing its shopping experience to Jackson Township.

Representatives from the Michigan-based company confirmed it recently completed the acquisition of a site for a planned location at Jackson’s Pointe Commerce Park off Route 19 in the township.

“We expect they will move forward with township permits under their approved land development shortly thereafter,” said Chris Rearick, township manager, last week.

The company, looking to expand its presence in Western Pennsylvania, is on the process of opening a Cranberry Township location.

According to Mark Gordon, Butler County chief of economic development and planning, Meijer may also be considering a third location closer to the center of the county.

Earlier in the month, Meijer acquired a liquor license for its Cranberry location.
