MAEA rallies for pay increases

Nearly a month since their contract with the school district expired, Mars Area Education Association members decided to make their feelings known.
The teachers union rally, held before a Mars Area School Board meeting Tuesday, July 28, comes as the two sides remain at a standstill with the upcoming school year just under a month away.
The two sides have reportedly held over 20 bargaining sessions over the past year. Negotiations stalled over issues like built-in pay increases and overall salaries compared with neighboring districts.
