Bridge washout closes Route 68 in Clarion, likely until Monday
Those heading northeast from Butler County may need to find a detour.
According to a news release Saturday night from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Route 68 in Clarion is closed to traffic between its intersections with Water Run Road and Boundary Street due to a bridge washing out.
The section of road is not expected to reopen until noon Monday, pending repairs to the bridge and road.
The release urges drivers never to drive through flooded road.
“Even shallow fast-moving water can wash away most vehicles,” according to the release, which adds. “The road may be compromised under the water.”
PennDOT also warned drivers not to drive around warning signs and barricades for closed roads.
