Middlesex Township manager Winkle to retire

Jeff Winkle
Municipality advertises job posting for replacement

Middlesex Township is saying goodbye to its township manage after four years. Jeffrey Winkle, who has served in the role since 2022, intends to retire from his position soon.

“I’m retiring ... taking some time away,” Winkle said. “I want to go spend more time with the wife and the grandkids.”

Although no announcement has been made publicly at any township meetings, he said he has had discussions with the township supervisors regarding his decision to retire.

“I have had discussions with the board telling them that I was considering retirement this year,” Winkle said. “I’m working with them to help them find a new manager and have a smooth transition to the new manager.”

On Thursday morning, Middlesex Township placed a job posting on its website seeking candidates for its next township manager.

Winkle has not set a firm timetable for his exit. However, he said the township is hoping to choose the next manager by late June or early July.

“The goal is to find the right candidate, the right fit for the position,” Winkle said. “We’ll go through the interview process with the candidates and hopefully the board gets the right individual for the position to move forward.”

Winkle first took the position in October 2022, replacing Adam Hartwig.
