Butler County’s girls wrestling 2026 all-stars: Seneca Valley’s Hannah Hornick AOTY, first team, more

Hannah Hornick's evolution as a wrestler began over three years ago when she joined Seneca Valley's girls team as a freshman.

“I had no idea what I was doing, was literally starting from nothing,” she said. “There was a massive gap I had to fill.”

There were bumps in the road along the way, but Hornick gained valuable experience and was spurred after joining Young Guns Wrestling Club during her sophomore year. She is now a decorated wrestler about to embark on a college career at Washington & Jefferson.

Her senior season included a 23-13 record, runner-up finish at the WPIAL Individual Wrestling Championships at 190 pounds and a fourth-place effort at the PIAA West Regionals, which made her the only girl in Butler County this season to qualify for the state tournament, held last month in Hershey.

Hornick has been named the Butler Eagle's 2025-26 Girls Wrestler of the Year. She medaled at WPIALs three consecutive seasons.

“It was the third straight year that Hannah wrestled at states, so it was a historic season and career,” SV assistant coach Caden Leighty said. “This year, she relied a lot on technique, didn't panic and just let the match come to her.”

Hornick went 1-2 in the state competition. She had tallied three pins to land in the WPIAL title bout in February.

“I wished I had done better, but I think everybody thinks they would have liked to perform better at some point,” Hornick said. “I got off to a rough start to the season and focused on picking things up in the postseason tournaments.

“I'm grateful for the opportunities wrestling has given me.”
