Freeport softball too much for Valley; Butler volleyball sweeps Moon; Tornado lacrosse falls: Roundup

Mady Bell and Ali Smith held Valley scoreless on two hits in Freeport softball’s 10-0, five-inning victory Tuesday.

Freeport’s 11 hits included Addyson Caruso’s home run and two doubles from Taelyn Toy.

The Yellowjackets improved to 2-2 with the win.

Baseball

An early 4-2 lead for Union/A-C Valley dissolved as Brookville scored in each inning from the third through the sixth in a 7-6 defeat of the Falcon Knights.

Trent Fleming had two hits, a run scored and one batted in for Union/A-C Valley.

Hopewell 15, North Catholic 9 — Shane Erdeljac’s two base hits and three RBIs highlighted the offense for the Trojans, who fell to the Vikings despite scoring six runs in the first inning.

Ryker Kennedy also had a pair of hits for North, which committed five errors, leading to six unearned runs.

Boys volleyball

Avery Rudolph dished out 24 assists and Jacob Proudfoot tallied eight kills in Butler’s 3-0 sweep of Moon.

Maddox McCall contributed 18 digs, Zane Steimer and Andrew Slaugenhoup both had two blocks for Butler (8-2, 2-2), which topped the Tigers by scores of 25-8, 25-17 and 25-18.

The Golden Tornado travel to Erie on Friday to face McDowell.

Shaler 3, Mars 0 — No other details were available from this 25-9, 25-3, 25-14 loss for the Planets.

Boys tennis

Butler dropped a 4-1 decision to North Hills, with Ryan Conaway earning a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win against JP Werner for the Tornado’s lone victory at No. 1 singles.

Boys lacrosse

Butler lost to Pine-Richland 12-3. No other stats were available from this game.
