Madison Romanovich is the blueprint of what her teammates and future Slippery Rock girls basketball players aspire to be.

“Starting as a freshman, and kind of developing, and then really taking off her junior year,” Rockets coach Jeff Steele said. “And then what she was able to accomplish this year, the kids really got to see that growth, especially some of the ones that are close in age.

“Our crowds at the end of the year, even in our tournament games, it was awesome to see the young kids and the young girls there. She’s certainly the reason for that.”

For her impact on her program, Romanovich has been voted as the 2025-26 Butler Eagle Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it without my teammates and everything,” Romanovich said. “It just really makes me happy to see where the program is going and how much we’ve accomplished in the past two years.”

Romanovich is considering playing college basketball at John Carroll or Point Park, “but I’m kinda still looking,” she said.
