New 7 Brew coffee location planned for Cranberry Township

CRANBERRY TWP — Another coffee chain might be headed toward Cranberry Township in the near future, and it isn’t Dunkin’ or Starbucks.

The township’s planning advisory commission gave approval to preliminary and final land development plans for a 7 Brew Coffee location, planned to be built on a 1.16-acre parcel of land located along Route 19 between the Barnes & Noble and Best Buy stores. The site is the former location of Pizza Roma, which closed in June 2024.

7 Brew Coffee is a nationwide chain consisting of over 600 locations, including 15 in Pennsylvania, which offer exclusively drive-thru service. Pittsburgh-area locations include Moon Township, Indiana, Washington, Meadville and Latrobe. Another location is currently under construction in Pleasant Hills.

The first 7 Brew stand opened in Rogers, Ark., in 2017. According to Bob Gage of Who Brew LLC — the Pittsburgh-area franchisee of 7 Brew making the application for Cranberry Township — the name of the chain came from the number of coffee flavors the original restaurant offered at launch.

“The company promotes a very energetic atmosphere. We’re trying to make it more of a destination-type experience than just driving up and getting a cup of coffee,” Gage said. “‘Cultivating kindness’ is a big catchphrase with 7 Brew.”

As with all other 7 Brew locations, the planned Cranberry site would offer only drive-thru, with no in-house dining and no walk-up orders permitted — although there are a few parking spaces in the plan for employees.

Gage compared the standard 7 Brew drive-thru order process to the one typically used at Chick-fil-A restaurants.

“This is not a traditional drive-through like you would think of Burger King or McDonald’s with a pullup window,” Gage said. “We have people with iPads that stand out in the lanes and take your order. Everything’s electronic. All the payment is taken at that point as well. The drinks are made up inside the building and then runners bring that out to you. From the time you place your order, till the time you get your product, it’s four minutes. Speed is a very big thing for us.”

The main structure used for the establishment, according to Gage, is a 535 square-foot modular building which will be assembled in Kansas and arrive in Pennsylvania on the back of a truck.
