Left turns will no longer be allowed at the intersection of Davis Road and Route 228 in Middlesex Township after April 6, according to the state Department of Transportation.

As part of the Route 228 Corridor Improvement Project, signalized intersections and jughandles are being implemented to reduce conflict points and regulate traffic, the department said Friday, March 27.

As a result of jughandles at Officer Edward Brooks Drive and Harbison Road, left turn lanes, like Davis Road’s, are being consolidated and removed.

Starting April 6, the eastbound center left turn late and median opening at the Davis Road intersection will be restricted. Instead, drivers will utilize jughandles to make left turns. A permanent median is planned for later this year.

Additional signage will be installed on Route 228 to guide drivers on how to use jughandles for left turns and for accessing the road.
