Erie man sentenced for Cranberry gun theft
One of two Erie County men charged with the theft of guns valued at more than $50,000 from a Cranberry Township residence in March 2025 was sentenced to probation.
Mathew M. Snippert, 24, of Erie was sentenced Tuesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court to serve 18 months of probation and pay $350 in fines after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief filed by township police.
On March 24, police said Snippert and Coby S. Andrzejewski, 23, of Waterford, destroyed a basement window and stole 19 rifles and shotguns from a home on Plains Church Road. Police said the combined value of the guns was $51,352 and the cost to repair the window was about $750.
Police said they traveled to two Erie County homes on April 2, 2025 and spoke to both men. Police said both men admitted to committing the burglary. Snippert had 11 of the firearms at his residence and Andrzejewski had eight of the firearms at his residence.
Andrzejewski’s case remains active.
