Golf simulator, Dunkin’ planned for Adams Township shopping center
ADAMS TWP — During a board of supervisors meeting on Monday night, March 23, property developer and business owner Ray Nelson revealed plans to bring a Dunkin’ franchise and an indoor golf simulator to Adams Town Center.
According to Nelson, the Dunkin’ and the golf simulator — which would be known as Back Nine Golf — would occupy the same footprint.
“In the front of the property will be a Dunkin’, which is hopefully going to open in September; and then we’ll have a Back Nine Golf in the same building,” Nelson said.
Back Nine Golf is a nationwide chain of golf simulators which, according to the chain’s website, is planning to open five locations in the greater Pittsburgh area, including the Adams Township location.
Nelson was at Monday’s meeting to request a subdivision of the future Dunkin’ property into three parcels, to accommodate a yet-to-be-built road which is planned to run through the parcel.
The Route 228 shopping center currently features Nelson Kitchen & Bath and Supremo’s Pizzeria.
At one point, there were also plans for a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop to open in the shopping center. However, Nelson said this is no longer the case.
“They decided that the cost of building the project outweighed the income, so they went away,” Nelson said.
