Mars Area announces remote learning day

Wind damage, continued threat in forecast cited

All Mars Area School District students will have a remote learning day Monday, according to a notice on the district’s website.

The decision was made “Because of multiple road closures due to storm damage in both Adams and Middlesex townships, as well as continued high winds in the forecast,” according to the notice.

The district went on to note remote learning days operate on a two-hour delay with a modified kindergarten schedule.

The district cited a lack of make-up days on the calendar as making remote learning necessary.

“Students will be expected to log on to each class to participate in live instruction throughout the school day,” according to the notice. “Assignments and other instructional materials will be available via the Schoology learning management system.

The district stressed that due to recent and ongoing issues, some students may experience connectivity issues.

“These students are asked to notify their building principal upon returning to school,” according to the notice. “Also, please note that some teachers/staff members may also be experiencing connectivity issues.”
