Knoch bocce 4th at regionals; Seneca Valley, North Catholic boys tennis win in sweeps: Roundup

Knoch bocce ball finished fourth in a Special Olympics Pa. regional championship on March 3 at RIZE Sports, Leetsdale. The Knights competed in the afternoon session with seven other teams and finished behind champion Chartiers Valley, Somerset and Richland.

Knoch’s roster included Carter Beres, Mason Kriberney, Caitlyn Gray, Chloe Infante, Parker Infante, Austin Tallarico, Annika Dadowski, Max Dadowski, Lucas Freshwater and Trevor Lawson. Amy Bocci and Marissa Leech are coaches.

North Catholic 5, Central Catholic 0 — The Trojans improved to 2-0 two days into the season with Tuesday’s win.

Justin Garvey (Singles 1) beat Jackson Lange 6-1, 6-1. North’s remaining singles players and doubles pairs didn’t drop more than three games in a set.

Seneca Valley 5, Riverside 0 — Marcos Lopez won the Singles 1 matchup 6-2, 6-2 over Milo Becker. Dylan Howe needed a tiebreaker to win his Singles 3 match 6-0, 7-6 (7-5), and Doubles 2 pair Jackson brandt and Andy Weng went to a third-set tiebreaker to win 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).

Blackhawk 3, Mars 2 — Palmiero won Singles 3 by a 6-1, 6-1 score, and the Doubles 2 pair of Santora and Myers won 6-4, 3-6 (10-6) for the Planets’ lone points. First names were not provided for this one.
