Cranberry Township man charged with aggravated assault of unborn child

A Cranberry Township man has been charged with aggravated assault of an unborn child.

Cranberry Township police charged Salvador Perez, 41, with felony aggravated assault of an unborn child and misdemeanor simple assault Friday, Feb. 27, following a Friday incident.

Police said they were dispatched at about 5 a.m. to Courtyard by Marriott Pittsburgh North/Cranberry Woods for reports of a dispute. Police later discovered Perez was staying at the hotel while renovating it.

Police found a woman who was eight weeks pregnant who had a lump on her right eyebrow and bruising.

The woman told police she and Perez got into an argument and Perez punched her on the right side of the head. She said Perez then struck her in the abdomen, forced her to the ground and put his full body weight on her stomach.

The woman reported severe abdominal pain when being evaluated by EMS. She was transported to AHN Wexford hospital.

Perez’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
