Freeport’s Joy Beck, Knoch’s Brooke Kobert medal at WPIAL diving championships to make states: Roundup

Freeport’s Joy Beck posted a 309.50 score at Friday’s WPIAL Class 2A Girls Diving Championship at North Allegheny High School, earning the district’s seventh and final ticket to the state meet.

Knoch’s Brooke Kobert (329.40, No. 5) will also head to Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium for the state championships March.

Hampton’s Gabriella Elk won the title with a 470.15, more than 100 points better than the rest of the competition. The boys champion is Mt. Pleasant’s Noah Lahm with a 320. The 3A diving championships are Saturday

Bowling

Freeport’s Kyle McConahy reached the WPIBL girls bowling quarterfinals Thursday, falling to Ellwood City’s Charlotte Eller at AMF Mt. Lebanon.

McConahy punched a ticket to the Western Pennsylvania regional tournament next week. Joining her are teammates Hannah Windows and Tiaca Sub, and Butler’s Kaylee Kniess and Julia Black.

Butler’s boys team qualified for the Western Pennsylvania regionals next Friday at AMF Noble Manor Lanes. Connor St. Clair also did so individually. Seneca Valley’s Colton Pizzica also qualified.

Hempfield’s Amelia Droste beat Plum’s Brooklynn Then 239-237 for the WPIBL girls singles championship, and Seton LaSalle’s Brody Dilla beat New Castle’s Izia Naugle 235-168 for the boys title.
