State Representative Stephanie Scialabba addressess the media during a news conerence in Butler on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

State Rep. Stephenie Scialabba, R-12th, said Monday that she will not run for a third term in office.

First elected in 2022, Scialabba said she is stepping aside to care for her child.

“Serving the people of the 12th District has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” she said. “I ran for office after the loss of my mother, with the goal of making a meaningful difference for Pennsylvania’s children, families and economy. Over the past three years, I have worked to reduce unnecessary regulatory barriers, strengthen economic opportunity and bring practical, thoughtful leadership to Harrisburg.”

Scialabba is in her second term, entering her fourth year in office. She said her decision was made after careful reflection and was not taken lightly.

“It has been a privilege to represent the 12th District,” she said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and confident in the district’s continued strength and future. Thank you to my constituents, staff, colleagues and community partners for the privilege of serving. It has been an honor that I will always carry with me.”

The district encompasses Adams, Cranberry and Jackson townships, and Callery, Evans City, Harmony, Mars, Seven Fields, Valencia and Zelienople.

Scialabba, an attorney, is the Republican chairwoman of the House subcommittee on Government Information Technology and Communication.

She graduated from Bishop McCort High School in 2009, received two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012 and she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2016.
