ADAMS TWP — The township’s dining scene is in line to receive one of the nation’s most popular fast-food spots.

A new Chipotle Mexican Grill is slated for the Adams Corners shopping center off Route 228, township manager Mike Tylka confirmed after Monday’s board of supervisors meeting.

“The developer did show a Chipotle as one of the retail locations in their plans that received approval from the planning commission,” Tylka said.

While the planning commission provided unanimous approval, the decision now rests with the supervisors.

Tylka said a vote could come later this month at the supervisors’ meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 23.

“That land development plan still has to come before this body for final approval, which will happen in two weeks,” he said.

No other information regarding construction timelines or an official opening date was immediately available.

Developers for Adams Corners first submitted plans to township officials in early January.

Tylka previously hinted at the possibility of a Chipotle coming to Adams Township during a “Business before Breakfast” networking meeting in Cranberry Township on Jan. 21, telling guests Adams Township residents could soon be able to find burritos, but not mentioning any brand names.

The Adams Corners shopping center already features Sheetz and GetGo convenience stores, along with a recently opened McDonald’s and an Aldi grocery store.

Chipotle currently operates more than 3,900 locations across the country.
