CRANBERRY TWP — Township supervisors, during a meeting Thursday, Feb. 5, moved forward with replacing the emergency traffic signal in front of the fire station along Route 19.

The signal has been in disrepair for the last several months.

The township received $212,000 through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Green Light-Go grant program to support the project.

Township manager Dan Santoro said supply delays could affect the project timeline, noting traffic signal poles typically have an eight-month lead time.

“It will take some time,” Santoro said after last month’s agenda preparation meeting.

If materials are secured as expected, officials hope the new signal will be installed by the end of the year.

Supervisors also approved an authorization to bid the township’s 2026 paving program.

The program will use a mix of treatment methods based on road conditions, traffic volume and long-term cost effectiveness. Planned improvements include superpave asphalt resurfacing, single seal coat, cape seal, crack sealing and application of an asphalt rejuvenator.

According to information on the meeting agenda, using multiple pavement strategies allows the township to extend road life, address varying levels of deterioration and maximize efficient use of funds.

Supervisors also authorized a bid for a sharpening grinder for the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. The tool will help staff sharpen equipment periodically throughout the year.
