Seneca Valley, North Catholic football teams featured in new NFL Films documentary about Pittsburgh: Watch now
Later this month, NFL Films is set to release a documentary detailing Western Pennsylvania’s storied gridiron history. Some Butler County high school football stars were included in the trailer for “The Football Town,” which premiered Wednesday.
Nearly halfway through the promo, the camera pans over the Seneca Valley field from behind the bleachers during its 21-18 upset win over neighboring rival North Allegheny in the Raiders’ season finale.
“It was a really cool atmosphere, especially the type of game of it was (with) all the cameras,” Raiders linebacker/running back Cayden Parker said.
It cuts to former Pittsburgh Steelers defenders Joey Porter Sr. and Chris Hoke watching from the fence behind the Tigers’ bench, with the former saying, “The Yinzer is a tough person.”
There’s also a brief clip of Parker sitting in front of his locker, glaring forward with eye black smeared over the right side of his face.
“It means a lot to represent some of the Western Pa. football,” Parker said. “Obviously, here in the WPIAL, we’ve got a lot of good ball. It’s really cool to have my face as one of the symbols of that.”
The teaser quickly switches to North Catholic bursting through a team banner prior to its matchup against Hopewell on the same night. Junior receiver Will Waskiewicz led the Trojans’ charge.
“Being able to be a part of NFL Films, it’s something you dream about,” said Waskiewicz, who’s watched “A Football Life.”
“The Football Town” is approximately a 50-minute film and is narrated by Pittsburgh-area native and sports media personality Pat McAfee. It will premiere Feb. 28 at Kamin Science Center’s Rangos Giant Cinema and run exclusively for two months before the 2026 NFL Draft, which will be held next door in front of Acrisure Stadium.
Tickets will be available soon on kaminsciencecenter.org.
