Butler County commissioners increased rental fees for some shelters at Alameda Park about a month before shelter reservations open.

At their meeting Wednesday, Jan. 28, commissioners approved new rental fees for the carousel, Jaycees, Kiwanis, first responder, Masonic and Odd Fellow shelters; and for the alcohol permit fee.

The new fees for shelters will increase ranging from $40 to $105 a day for Monday through Thursday rentals and $80 to $210 a day for weekends. Fees for most of the shelters were not increased.

The alcohol permit fee was increased from $40 to $50.

People can begin renting shelters in person Feb. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Butler County Government Center and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Department office at the park.

The fee for the eight-week Camp Alameda increased from $130 per week per child to $155.

The parks and recreation commission recommended the fee increases.

Roads in the park, which are closed during winter months, will open in late March or early April. The water park is scheduled to open June 6.

Commissioners on Wednesday also opened and tabled for review 10 bids for the Butler Township storm sewer project. The bids ranged from $389,578 to $634,930. The commissioners are expected to award one of the bids at their next meeting Feb. 11. Community Development Block Grants funds will be used to pay for the work.

The commissioners approved advertising five CDBG-funded projects this year. The projects are demolishing a vacant home at Old Plank and Mushrush roads and the Harcrest Park project in Penn Township, the Slippery Rock borough storm sewer project and maintenance hole projects in Karns City and Petrolia.
