Police: Man stole $4,500 bracelet from Cranberry jewelry store

A man has been charged with felony retail theft after police say he pocketed a bracelet from a jewelry store.

Cranberry Township police charged George Tarnovan, 37, with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property in relation to an incident at Kay Jewelers in Cranberry Mall on Dec. 18.

According to police, a man later identified as Tarnovan entered the Kay Jewelers, asked an employee to see some bracelets and offered her a large stack of cash.

The employee was distracted by Tarnovan when he set the cash on top of a bracelet before picking up both the cash and bracelet and placing it in his pocket, police said.

The bracelet is valued at $4,500.

After he left the store, the employee checked the inventory and discovered one of the bracelets was missing, police said.

Tarnovan’s preliminary hearing has yet to be set.
