Evans City residents were asked to temporarily conserve water Friday morning, Jan. 23, after a water main break, but the issue is expected to be fixed by the afternoon, according to an Evans City Water and Sewer Authority spokesperson.

Crews had already started fixing the overnight break by 9 a.m. Friday morning, according to the spokesperson.

She said the break occurred in a place where maintenance had to reroute the water from the borough’s main water storage tank, so the tank has water but cannot fill to its full capacity until the break is fixed.

The authority will notify residents when the break is fixed, the spokesperson said.
