State Rep. Aaron Bernstine announces reelection bid

State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-8th, said in a news release Friday, Jan. 9, he will run for reelection this November for a sixth term in office.

Bernstine, who describes himself as a “staunch conservative,” has served in the state House of Representatives since January 2017.

Bernstine ran unopposed in the last three general elections.

In his news release, Bernstine took aim at House Democrats and Gov. Josh Shapiro, vowing to act as a firewall “against the radical left agenda in Harrisburg.” He also promoted himself as fiscally conservative, “pro-family” and a “Second Amendment champion” while highlighting legislation he’s supported in these areas.

He pointed to votes and proposals he’s made opposing tax increases and “reckless spending,” against red flag laws and gun control proposals, keeping violent criminals behind bars and addressing workforce shortages.

“We need proven conservative fighters who are willing to stand in the line of fire and push back,” Bernstine said. “From day one, I have taken on the radical left and even those in my own party who waver — and I’m running again to continue that fight on behalf of the people of Butler and Lawrence counties.”

Bernstine is a founding member of the Pennsylvania Freedom Caucus.

The Butler County portion of the 8th District includes Brady, Center, Clay, Connoquenessing, Forward, Franklin, Lancaster, Middlesex, Muddycreek, Penn and Worth townships, as well as Connoquenessing, Portersville, Prospect, West Liberty and West Sunbury boroughs.
