Gov. Josh Shapiro announced his reelection campaign Thursday, Jan. 8.

In a 2-minute-and-41-second announcement video, Shapiro touted $32.5 billion in new investments, more than 18,000 new jobs, the repealed Sunday hunting ban and seven tax cuts among others to garner support for his second gubernatorial campaign. He took office in January 2023.

“Even with a divided state legislature — together — we’ve gotten a whole lot done on issues that have been stuck for decades,” Shapiro said.

He will retain Lt. Gov. Austin Davis as his running mate.

Shapiro will begin his reelection bid with a historic $30 million in campaign funds, according to reports released Tuesday. He’s expected to run against GOP candidate and state treasurer Stacy Garrity after Sen. Doug Mastriano announced he will not be seeking the nomination.
