County receives grant for rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention
A federal grant has provided Butler County with $250,000 to combat homelessness through local services that offer rapid rehousing and emergency shelters.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development recently announced Butler County would be receiving funds from the 2026 Emergency Solutions Grant.
The grant is comprised of federal funds “to assist with the rapid rehousing of homeless persons, street outreach, homelessness prevention and emergency shelter activities,” the DCED website said.
According to the list of awardees, the county plans to support activities through subgrantees: Glade Run Lutheran Services and Victim Outreach Intervention Center for their emergency shelters, The CARE Center for its rapid rehousing services and emergency shelter and Catholic Charities for its financial and rental assistance through rapid rehousing and homelessness prevention.
Butler County’s funds are just one part of the state’s distribution of $5.3 million to 14 municipalities and seven nonprofits affecting 50 counties, a release from the department said.
