High school girls wrestling is entering just its third season in Pennsylvania, but Butler County has already produced two WPIAL champions — Butler’s Ana Malovich, who is now wrestling at Grand Valley State, won district gold in 2024, and Knoch’s Braylee Ireland won last year.

Ireland is back and hoping for more success as a senior this season, but a number of westlers at Butler, Seneca Valley and Knoch return to the mat after promising efforts a year ago.

The following are nine wrestlers to watch during the 2025-26 season, listed alphabetically:

She tallied a 14-9 record as a sophomore, including nine pins. She will serve as a team captain.

Eighteen of her 21 wins last year were by fall. Earned sixth place in the WPIAL tournament.

She placed third in the WPIAL as a sophomore and finished the season with a record of 21-11.

Her 23 wins last season were third-most among Butler County girls. Qualified for states for the second straight year after placing fourth in the WPIAL and third at regionals.

She will move up a weight class after a banner season at 118 — first place in the WPIAL, first at regionals and sixth in the state.

Before an injury pulled the plug on her sophomore season, she went 16-7 with all victories coming via pin.

Entered the postseason unranked at 106 pounds last year, but placed fourth in the WPIAL. Finished with a record of 15-11.
